The Law of Attraction Explained
July 20, 2008
The Law of Attraction, which will bring us happiness and the life we desire, is often described as a "secret" and a "mystery" because it is hard to understand it in terms of the physical world. But, the Law of Attraction can be explained from the neurophysical concept of qualia.
But what is qualia?
The philosophers would say that color is qualia, because it actually doesn't exist. Yes, there are wavelengths we call "red" on the spectrum of light, but if we hadn't evolved the rods and cones in our eyes to help us see those wavelengths, they would just be shades of gray. It is this way with all our senses and the things they perceive.
It is more important, however, to understand qualia as the qualiadelic relationship between two living objects.
A red apple tree and an animal that eats red apples have a qualiadelic relationship. Over time, the tree develops redder apples, while at the same time the animal develops the ability to see red.
However, we live not only in a physical world, but in a symbolic world, which is very much alive, too. Therefore, we have qualiadelic relationships with ideas, with culture, with community, and especially with Self.
When we learn to pay attention to our thoughts, we are developing a qualiadelic relationship with an idea. When we return, again and again to some music, or to a museum, or to school, we are evolving our Self; and in turn, music, museums, schools and the like all evolve, too, because we are using them.
This is where the Law of Attraction fits in: when we focus on an idea, such as having money, we develop a qualiadelic relationship with it. Was we evolve, and the idea evolves, its qualiadelic effect, or attraction, increases.
We can discover and develop qualiadelic relationships through the practice of conscious ritualing.
Although rituals, through repetition, become routine, they do not start out that way. The first time we go to a museum it is an adventure. Originally, ritualing was the way we dealt with crisis, with the unknown, with the in-between. But we have forgotten that aspect of ritual.
To learn how to pay attention to your thoughts and nurture the secret law of attraction, it is necessary to practice ritualing. Ritualing, as ancient as it is, comes as naturally to us as speaking. Like speaking, with practice we develop some degree of real power.
Of course, like speaking, it takes some getting used to ritualing in public. However, you will soon be joined by others who are attracted to your qualiadelic effect. Money attracts money. Love attracts love.
Ritual is a framework for transformation; it is the source of symbols for both Self and Community. It allows us to discover and grow the power of attraction.
There are three stages to ritual. First, we create the space for it. This is a special moment, like the beginning of a tale -- "once upon a time..." Second, we play in that space. This is when we act out the would be's and could be's of our intentions, making them physically real as best we can. We try them out like an actor plays with props at rehearsal until one of them, almost magically, works. Third, we return to normal, every day life -- with our "prop" in hand, of course.
Our special prop, our symbol, our gesture, our look, our sound, our hint, our thought, is qualiadelic. It attracts. Not only do we evolve with it as we pay attention to it for the rest of the day, but others are drawn to it as well. People are attracted to good ritualers.
Be Qualiadelic. Be Conscious. Change the Routine.
